DR PORTIA GOLDSMITH

Dr Portia Goldsmith has 30 years
of experience in treating skin disease and understands how frightening and miserable skin problems can be. There is usually a lot that can be done to help.

Dr Goldsmith trained at Charing Cross Hospital Medical School and completed her MRCP whilst doing the SHO rotation there. She then enjoyed 2 years as a medical registrar at Barnet General Hospital.

Dr Goldsmith’s dermatology training was largely in London and she was a Wellcome Research Fellow at the Middlesex Hospital where she undertook work into blood flow into the skin and vibration white finger. She has been a Consultant Dermatologist for 21 years.

Dr Goldsmith started as a consultant at the Whittington Hospital for 5 years and for the last 16 has been split between the Royal London Hospital and the Homerton Hospital. Her special interests are Paediatric Dermatology and Contact Allergy but she greatly enjoys General Dermatology. She is also an enthusiastic trainer and teacher in her field.

CLINIC DETAILS

NHS

Dr Goldsmith is a busy clinician who devotes 80% of her time to the NHS and is employed by Barts Health and Homerton University Hospital.

PRIVATE PRACTICE

Dr Goldsmith undertakes two private clinics a week. New patients are allocated 30 minutes and follow ups 15minutes. Dr Goldsmith is a recognised Dermatology by all major health insurance providers including BUPA, AVIVA, PPP etc.

SURGERY

Undertakes mole checks and skin cancer checks and does simple skin excisions and skin biopsies under local anaesthetic.

MANAGEMENT

Diagnosis and treatment
of skin conditions such as rashes, eczema, psoriasis, urticaria, acne, rosacea,
skin lumps and bumps,
scalp, hair and nail problems. Extensive experience
in treating dermatological problems in people with pigmented skins.

Referral for patch testing and phototherapy when needed.

PAEDIATRIC DERMATOLOGY

Diagnosis and treatment
of skin problems in babies, children and teenagers. Extensive experience
in treating eczema and
has close links with paediatric allergists.
